Doppler Velocity and Flow Meter | MT-D800B
A compact Doppler velocity and flow meter for manholes, channels and discharge outlets. DC7.5-15V supply, ≤20mA/12V power consumption, RS485 Modbus RTU, 10m standard cable with custom lengths available.
Description
Product Overview
The MT-D800B Doppler velocity and flow meter measures flow velocity and discharge in partially filled pipes, manholes, open channels and industrial discharge outlets. Using the Doppler principle, it determines velocity from the frequency shift of an acoustic signal reflected by particles or bubbles moving with the water.
With a very low power draw of no more than 20 mA at 12 V and a compact body, the instrument suits battery-powered and solar-powered monitoring sites where conventional flow meters are impractical.
Key Features
- Stable operation: Designed for reliable continuous measurement in the field.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Doppler method measure flow?
The instrument transmits an acoustic signal into the water and measures the frequency shift of the signal reflected by particles or bubbles carried by the flow. That shift is proportional to flow velocity, which is then combined with the cross-sectional area to calculate discharge.
Is it suitable for battery or solar powered sites?
Yes. With a whole-device consumption of no more than 20 mA at 12 V and a 7.5–15 V supply range, the MT-D800B works well on battery and solar installations.
What is the default sampling interval?
The factory default is 0 seconds — effectively continuous sampling — and the interval can be configured to suit the application.
Can the cable be lengthened?
Yes. The standard cable is 10 metres and custom lengths are supported.
Which communication protocol is used?
RS485 with Modbus RTU, allowing direct connection to telemetry terminals, data loggers or cloud platforms.
